Free Korean dinner

As mentioned in my previous post, i won a free dining voucher and bowling voucher in a writing contest. Before March ends, we managed to spend all these vouchers last weekend.

As you can see, this was our ordered food using my RM 50 dining voucher in a korean restaurant. Because only two of us, the food were ok and we quite satisfied with the portion and taste. Though it looked abit little, =p.

visit to A&E

I going to visit A&E (Accident and Emergency department) regularly started by today, to remind doctors and nurses about the enrollment of patients into my project.

Got a mix feeling every time i visit this place. Because when there is emergency case, everybody will be busy, and it's not so right to stand btw one of them and to tell them what i want. Even if they listen, don't think they will recall what i said after this.

Btw, every time i came into the ward or A&E, feel so sorry to those patients who in pain. I do hope that the nurses and doctors there will help to recruit patient for this study, since every research is meant to improve life and make things better. Who doesn't want to understand the disease better, and discover a good quality treatment for those in sick?

It's one of the difficulties to collect sample in hospital. Unless, to be friends with them so they can easily know you and help you. =)

Still a long way to go, especially i have to worry about my patient enrollment and to troubleshoot my RNA extraction at the same time.

My blood has no RNA

I did my RNA extraction last few weeks, and only today had the free time to run gel check the RNA quality. And, i got nothing! The gel showed none RNA appearence from my sample!

I thought i can see at least smear band from my RNA sample, if it is degraded. But it is so mysterious that, i saw nothing of RNA existence.

I need to troubleshoot and find out what is the root problem. After i finish my RNA degradation, i can't see any pellet. It can either be (1) Not lysed well (2) completely RNA degradation

hmm, will try my luck again.

2 patients = 1 patient samples taken

I am lucky today cos I got two patient recruited for my study. But but but, I made a big mistake that eventually I spoilt my first patient's sample. Die Liao this time, sure will tercekik by my boss. Sigh, will I survive from scolded?

Considered I is officially as a postgrad student. Now is waiting for patient under desired category to come so that I can get my first blood samples. Is almost two days still no news from A&E and cardiac clinic. I feel like I am wasting time and worry how if there is no patient or if the patient not willing to participate in my project?

Hmm I must be think too much, hope I can get my first sample as soon as possible or else I can't continue to next protocol, whereby my boss keep pressure on me to get some results. Awww suddenly feel like doing plants maybe easier just like what I did in my Fyp, I can get plenty samples in one day only. Btw, it is abit sad and accidentently get involved in working politic game and i'm bit sick with some purhasing work. Maybe i just too stupid dunknow how to deal with some paperworks or maybe i thought i only dedicated to my project only, never thought I will involve with these. Sigh, it seem complicate. Anyway, just feel not right now wanna to nag here and there for a while. I do wish tml can be a better day and I can approach to any patient under my study criteria if possible. Wish me gdluck.

My blood my experiment

I took 2 ml of my own blood just now. It's freaky because i actually going to use my own blood to experiment the effect of storage temperature and type of shipping on DNA and RNA yield and purity.
