A good sleep kick started our day - journey to Mammoth from Jackson. Jackson is a very small town lying at Sierra Nevada Mountains. The Jackson itself and its nearby towns until Sacramento Valley are called Historical Gold Country because they’re famed for minerals and gold years ago.
We left the mountainous Jackson on 830 AM and entered Hwy 88, it was about 4 hours drive to reach Mammoth. In between, we left and re-entered CA-NV boarder twice, and bypassed Mono lake via US 395, then made an interchange towards Mammoth Lakes via SR 203. The three different routes (Hwy 88, US 395, SR 203) we see different weathers and scenic views. In simple word, it was winter in Hwy 88, summer in US 395 and winter in SR 203. Can’t believe? See the proof:
Outside temperature reached 8-12 degree Celsius.
We finally arrived our destination after two days road trip. It’s a skiing resort and snowing whole year, except in July month when people can actually do summer activities such as kayaking and hiking. The fact is we didn’t bring our winter suits and didn’t expect it is actually a skiing resort.
We completely speechless when we arrived this place, because other than skiing, there’s nothing to do there! And, it’s freezing cold!
Picture of the day: One of the craziest things i have done – swimming while snowing. The temperature outside was –3 degree Celsius that time.
