A half day trip to Semenggoh Wildlife Centre

Semenggoh wildlife rehabilitation centre, is 15 mins distance from Kuching international Airport and located at 10th mile, Padawan town district. It's among the few tourist spots in Kuching which is a must visit place for ang moh.

The entry fee is only RM3 per adult and there is a number of gardens in this ~600 hectar forest reserve park which are also opened to visit: bamboo garden, chinese herbal plant garden, palm tree garden and etc.

The orang utan rehabilitation centre is 1300 m away from the entrance gate (where we paid for our entrance ticket), and because we're so excited (especially me who never been to this place) that we walked to see orang utans, while other visitors drive their cars up. And, because the road is so steep and so many weird look from those who sitting in car along the way, i quickly realized that why we so stupid use foot to go up!! then i asked my driver tumpang an officer's motocycle (luckily that guy was passed by that time) and went to take car. While we all continue jalan jalan, and unbelievable, by the time the car reached us, i also reached the centre liao!

There are only two to four orang utans there, the officer told us that because now is raining season, most of the orang utans don't want go out to see (or entertain) visitors. But that's alright, as long as there are some orang utans. They are just like human, but the difference is they can climb the tree so easy and can use both foot and hand to grab the banana.

The orang utan swing here and there, showed us their great gymnastic skills. And the visitors, as usual, take out their camera and handphone to take photo. While i was hanging around hoping to see more orang utans, and what a surprised i saw my ex-colleagues there. They were on duty and brought some guests whom attended their organized Symposium to visit this place. And i heard, one of their guests said "What a lovely place".. lol, just happy and abit proud, though i think more orang utans should come out and should entertain us more with playing ball on trees. haha.

That's no other animals can be seen except orang utans and one caged crocodiles. So we decided to leave after this. And, we heard something very funny from a conversation btw a daddy and his son

Son: Where we going? （我们去哪里?）

daddy: We go to see monkeys, and the monkeys will buy you coffee oh!.
（我们去看猴子，猴子会请你喝咖啡哦!）

Miaow Miaow in the office!

One cat hidden on top of our office roof, and because it is too fat, the ceiling cannot tahan its weight and fell down at last. The cat is therefore must be very surprised it can find a mystery place, with very clean, cozy and nobody environment, where no other cats can find it.

"wow, nice place wor!"

So it decided to have a look, and it slowly go round the whole place, from front to back, from this corner to corner, and it found that "what a heaven! a place with air con is on all day: it can enjoy the windy air and bye bye the hot and humid roof; it can climb here and there, with so huge space and sleep on sofa chair !; It can have so many foods to eat (if it is able to open the fridge door or use its claws to open my biscuit container!); and there is nobody can chase it, no other cat can bully it..."

It thanked God, and spent a good sweet night in this so called heaven. Zzzzzz.

"Wahhhhhhhh"

But Who Knows! It realized that good things never last for so long, and that were people came in to its new home. It started to get feared, scared and panicked! By its common sense, it tried to find a way out, but it was so panicked until so stupid that it ran to a closed window and tried to break the window.

After tried for several times for cannot breaking down the window, the cat showed us an innocent but full of hatred look: like we're the bad people that ruin its wonderland. We opened the front and back door, and go back to our work desk, hoping the cat can go out by itself.

After 2 hours leaving the door opened, the cat still there and hiding at the back of fridge. We can't help so ask technician to catch the cat. They got the cat into a cage, and i say goodbye to this panicked cat.

Also pray for it can live longer, because the technician told me he wants to panggang this cat and make satay. Eeeeew!

Awaiting

It has been a while since we first plan our project (which is going to be my Master project at the same time), and because i don't have any experience in purchasing lab accessories and preparing own protocol, i often got problem in making decision.

Now still have one month left before we start collecting sample, yet i still cannot be sure whether the things i ordered is it enough, or is it needed, or may be i miss out other important things which i need to buy?

I hope when the time come to officially start the work, it is not going to be a mess in my hand. Aargh, i am so worry and so hope the January don't come too early!! Can anyone give me free sample of lab items because anything free i want to accept, and i don't have money anymore to allow me buy anything else!!

Travel in Kuching: the plan

Life in Kuching is so much like life after retired, almost every night i am thinking where i can go lepak besides stay at home watching Astro after dinner. It is even worse when comes to Saturday, which i spent it with endless Zzzzzz!

I won't blame Kuching for no big shopping malls like KL, because i believe if i spend money for shopping and movie every week, it's sinful and is a waste especially during these days. Anyway, i got an interesting plan in my head. Which is to organize a trip to explore each travel spot in Kuching/Sarawak area during weekend. It might be the adventurous jungle trekking, or a food hunt. By the way, Sarawak is just so famous with her yummy foods and cultural heritage plus rainforest. It's time to explore and re-explore!

I will post story of places i been to in support with my in-process plan above. Hope these posts will give you an better idea about the secret of Sarawak and probably, attract you to visit my hometown. So i can be your travel guide as my part time work. =)

Approved

At last, my postgrad application in UNIMAS is approved.

After spent my precious undergraduate 3 years in UTAR, this UNIMAS is going to be a new home for me.

Though this uni is not my first choice for me to continue my study, but i am happy to be part of it and i believe i can learn many from the research team i will join. I believe this uni can be a stepping stone for me to go overseas in future. Haha.

Just to share a bit about my future master life in this uni. I'll be enrolled as Master in research in Faculty of Resource Science and Technology, under Department of Molecular Biology. The course is full time research, and minimum of completion is 2 years. My major will be on human genetics, aiming at cardiovascular disease group. The project will use both proteomic and genomic technology to study for process of cardiovascular disease. This research field is deviated a lot from my final year project (FYP), and i am sure that lots of challenges ahead that will probably kill more of my brain cells than my FYP did in UTAR.

This is indeed a good news for me after i ended my crazy working week. Perhaps, return back as student again is much more happy than to be in working life.

Back stab

I am sure that after 6 months of our graduation, many of us follow into different path of life. No matter it is heading to academic field, research, public relation, or business line. We often can see it's a much complicated human relationship is challenging us when we tend to meet and network with more people.

While i still consider myself as to having a new truly friend maybe is still as simple as how we made friend when we in school year, it is not all correct in a real working world. Sometimes we just can't differentiate who is your true friend or who is your enemy.

If we consider the backstabbing phenomenon only happen to politician or businessmen, we're wrong! Even we maybe just a researcher, with no name in the list of publications, we still are the targets to be attack by this backstabbing act.

Just take it as example, you're preparing the proposal to work on an interesting project, and you mention about it to a friend that you believe or respect. It might still happen, if one day you just realize your idea of research is being stolen, and all the efforts you make is gone. How will you feel?

I came across with similar scenario, in which a managing director in top management of board stole the idea of his member to step over him on doing the same thing. He sees the opportunity, yet he is not the person to generate the idea. He is a typical copy cat, with no planning at all compared to the idea inventor himself. We consider this is another act of backstabbing in real world.

How evil of human

This let me understand that why we cannot trust the people as the way how we trust during our school years. Human is the most dangerous living thing in this world, to avoid yourself from backstabbing, all you have to do is protect your own intellectual property. Think well before speak.

I won't back stab people, neither to stole a people's idea. If someone is willing to share their idea, just to respect and be accept, or help if he needs helps. What for to back stab people to benefit yourself? You may win the world, but you lose your respects from others.

Obama, what he relates to our country

Congratulation to Barack Obama for his big victory as first Black president in USA history. I think many of us, not just me, though not in USA also hope he will win before election and he did!. Because, it means a lot, especially a word means "CHANGE".

This is the word that our own Malaysians, not just me, and for most majority of us, hunger for it from long time ago. Where is our "CHANGE", and who is the person that will promise the "CHANGE" just like the Obama did?

We so so hunger for it, and we proved we wanted it, so we had the 308 big political tsunami to Malaysia history. Rumours even spread that Anwar Ibrahim will take over the federal government to promise a "CHANGE" for us. And, time flies, the american made their choice, look at us, we still the same....

Americans wanted to change, there go their chances to select a suitable president to change.

We wanna to change, so as can live better, to have a more efficient government, to upgrade ourselves to a developed country, to earn more, to be more competitive to other countries and so on. That's so much unfair in our law and acts, and we even don't have the freedom to speak for our right.

And, i just want to clarify that this is not from a point of my view as a Chinese. I put myself as a Malaysian, always a Malaysian forever. I love my birth place and the place where i grow up over than any other places in this world.

If the rest in this world can stand their chance to ask for a "CHANGE", why not us? We not asking any opposite party in Malaysia to take over the current ruling government. We just want a clean, efficient, developed, clever government, no matter who is the ruling party.

I feel so disappointed. When the rest of the world is thinking of the solution to overcome the massive economic crisis, our lovely government is still wondering whether or not want to cut down the 30 cent petrol subsidy for us, or to spend money to buy more helicopters, or to prepare another new PM let him to send more astronaunts to space.

Definitely, this country is getting to hopeless. The "CHANGE", it is infinite far for us.

God bless Obama, hope he can do better than that Bush. Hope he can build a good role model for our politician to learn.
